Definitely got started late on this one and i'm hesitant to even post it, but I gotsta! I thought i'd start off attempting something festive so I painted this Frankenstein's monster and tried to play around with CS5's mixer brush tool.

Blizzcon Round Two!

So last year I went to Blizzcon and it was, in a word, "dope". When I describe it to Jo I always tell her it's kind of like a nerdy version of Disneyland - complete with orcs, guns and body oder. So, this year my family bought me another ticket and I'm going with my brother Mike. I painted this up in anticipation - it's my version of a Terran Marine from Starcraft.

Jo and I went and saw Conan O'Brien's new movie tonight, afterwards he came out and did some question and answer! It was a dream come true for sure, as Jo and I are huge fans. We got a picture with him and talked a little. picture to come soon!

I started my first week at Carbine Studios on Monday. It's an amazing place, sooo many talented artists and a lot of really cool work to do. Still learning the ropes and trying to figure out programs and everything, but things are going great.

Every Friday is Quick Draw Friday, where a subject is sent out and everyone has their lunch hour to come up with something. This was my first shot, the subject was Tim Burton, so I decided to paint Sweeney Todd.

A couple weeks ago I accepted an offer to be a 3D artist on the prop team at Carbine Studios and I have to say, I could not be more excited. This is a dream come true for me. Since I was young it's always been my dream to work on video games, more specifically MMOs. The people at carbine are incredibly talented and I feel extremely grateful to being a part of their team. Thanks everyone who's helped me along the way! I owe a lot of people for all the help and support - Avalanche, BYU, Polycount, family and especially my wife Jo, who can only be described as "the dopest".

Gotta keep count! there will be more to follow. I started this out just to kinda paint something/warm up before I did other work and hoped I could have it double as my homework for Jack and the Beanstalk concept art. but alas.... I made this first one, and then when things started to go south I jumped ship and zombie'd him up good. also it was a keen opportunity to use my recently acquired chain brush, which sort of makes him look like Jacob Marley, but i'm pretty sure most paintings could do with a little more Jacob Marley.

I went to school today with every intention of finishing my 2D animation for Illusion of Life. However, when I was there I decided to try one of the cintiq's, which I'd seen but never touched. I ended up not finishing my animation and instead have this drawing as the night's final product. I couldn't decide what to put in the speech bubble though. Joey and I brainstormed and came up with the following: a swirly poop, a skull, a boombox and Jackie Chan eating a 6 foot party sub (just added that one). Anyways if you have any ideas I would appreciate them.
